There are plenty of opportunities to find out how candidates for mayor, clerk, and city council feel about the issues important to Columbus residents.
You’re here at my website, and this is a great place to find out more about how I feel. Go ahead and scroll through the posts.
In person
There are also opportunities to meet us. Most of us were at a town hall sponsored by Hoosier Action on Oct. 9 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Here’s a story in The Republic on that town hall.
Columbus Rotary Club had some candidates in at its Oct. 2 meeting, and the rest of us will be at its Oct. 16 meeting at Hotel Indigo, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. At-large, Districts 5, 6 have been invited to this one. If you wish to attend, and you are not a candidate participating in the forum, the cost is $15.
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus, The League of Women Voters, Brown County/Bartholomew County and First Presbyterian Church of Columbus are co-sponsoring a Meet and Greet for all Columbus municipal candidates on Oct. 16.
More details on these events can be found here.
Voters guide
Hoosier Action put together a great voters guide that was passed out at its town hall earlier this week. See below for that guide.
Newspaper
Make sure you’re reading our local newspaper, The Republic. They’re running stories on each of the races, in addition to covering city council meetings, and other meetings of note. If you don’t have a subscription, you’re missing out on loads of local information you can’t get anywhere else. Online only is $12 a week. That’s two tall peppermint mocha nonfat, no whipped I forgo to afford keeping up to date with what’s going on in my community.
If you missed something, go on the website and search for election-related news.
Early voting starts Monday
A reminder: Early voting in Columbus starts on Oct. 16 at Nexus Park. Make sure you get in and vote, just in case something unexpected crops up on Election Day (Nov. 7).
