Who doesn’t love a parade?

I was happy to participate with the Bartholomew County Democratic Party’s float on a warm, sunny Sept. 24 at Hope Heritage Days in Hope, Indiana. We had fun riding in the wonderfully decorated candy-themed truck, meeting people, and passing out candy to the kids (and some kids at heart).

The float came off as sort of a floating candy cloud, which was fine by us and the kids. We even had the Wicked Witch of the West with us!

Hope Heritage Days is a three-day festival held annually to celebrate the history of “The Surprising Little Town” in northeast Bartholomew County. This was the 55th installment of the celebration. There’s musical entertainment as well as more than 125 food and vendor booths. And of course, the parade on Sunday afternoon.

Next time, I’m going to wear sunscreen. Ouch, my aching neck!
